Awesome for price paid May 14, 2008 I have another more expensive unit also from iHome. I was constantly moving it around to the kitchen while cooking or to the yard for BBQs. When I saw this in Gold Box for twenty bucks I snagged it, just to have a second unit that I could permanently leave in the bedroom. It works well and definitely serves its purpose. It's not the most phenomenal sound, but it's pretty darn good. It definitely sounds alot better than one should expect for the price paid. If you're looking for amazing sound quality, this may not be the unit for you. But, if you're looking for bang-for-buck, and intend to use it to casually listen to music, this system is perfect.
For the Price, a decent purchase May 12, 2008 Bought this for the office, since it was pretty close to the same price as an additional IPOD charger. For a single box speaker, the sound is ok - but I am in a work place, and don't put th3e volume up.
It does a fine job recharging my IPOD when I forget to check at home; it's pretty unobtrusive on the desk as well.
IHome 2 go May 8, 2008 I was looking for a small speaker for my IPod with good sound, and this product complies with these specifications, the only thing that I can not use is the remote control for my 3G Ipod, in this IPod the only thing that works is the volumen, you can not change songs or go to the menu (as specified on the manual). Does anybody know how can I fix this problem?. For 5G Ipod this speaker works very well.
Nice, but depends on the price... April 29, 2008 If you can get this unit for $30-40, it's a solid deal. The unit plays loud enough for casual listening in a medium sized room, with good (for what it is) bass output. Bass/treble controls allow to dial in a little extra treble, which the unit needs because it's a bit muddy.
Remote is handy and works as expected. Comprehensive package includes several dock adapters and a nice, compact AC adapter. Built-in amp has the ability to run an expansion speaker, which so long as you use an RCA adapter, can be just about any 4 ohm speaker. This opens up a lot of additional sound output options and is probably a grossly underutilized feature.
This is not the best unit for highly portable duty. C batteries should provide decent battery life, but the unit isn't very handily shaped for carrying, and I don't think docks that support the ipod in such an standout upright position are the best choice for mobile use.
Pricing on the units is dropping because they don't include 3rd gen nano or "classic" regular adapters. Still works fine, but you'll have to hack/fabricate/not use an adapter with a 3rd gen. Trade off is fine by me given the savings, and I suppose Ihome probably makes adapters by now you can buy. I don't know, and won't bother.
If the unit braced the ipod better when docked and included an FM tuner, it'd be a home run.
Spent $20 on it April 28, 2008 First of all, I spent $20 on this unit with free shipping through Prime. For that price I love it. I keep it in the bathroom to listen while I shower and get ready. -The remote is nice and it sounds good in a small room. -The bass is shallow The unit is def worth $20 but I wouldn't pay any more for it, especially if you need something as your primary sound system. The 4 stars I have given most certainly reflect the price I paid. At $40+, I would give it 2 or 3 stars.
