great watch August 25, 2008 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
...looks and functions well...except for the silly grommets on the band...which are not depicted in the photo...even my sister said ...what's with those holes on the band...wondered about a getting new band...for a watch I just bought!...ended up prying the suckers off...more easy than you think...start with the inside of the band and pry the ring off then push the grommet out the other side...did it using my fingernails...which needed to be trimmed afterwards... left one for the hole that I use... now it looks even better...citizen find a new band!...
Canvas band problem August 20, 2008 1 out of 4 found this review helpful
I bought a Titanium model that uses the same band. The canvas is resistant, but the tissue sewn in the back of the canvas (leather?) cracked after 1 year due to sweat. It also smells not good when wet. The other awful thing was the knob. It got loose and its axel warped just being in my wrist.
I love this watch! August 7, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I just can't say enough good things about this watch. I love it, it satisfies the geek in me, while not looking out of place when camping. There are only two points that detract from this watch, but I love it so much it doesn't drag the overall rating down.
1. The band isn't everything it could be, and in fact is a bit small around my wrist. However I don't buy a watch for it's band, they are easily and cheaply replaced.
2. Just more of a warning. In the pictures, it looks like the case extends above the crystal (dial face) which I have had on watches before. That is not so with this watch, the crystal actually extends beyond the case ever so slightly. Not enough to detract from my opinion of the watch, but I wanted to warn other buyers in case this is critical in your circumstances.
Citizen Eco-Drive July 22, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is truly a fantastic watch. I love it that it's solar powered and has such a long warranty. It feels and looks very solid. The numbers are clear and just the right size. The watch glows through the night. The band is less wonderful. However, I replaced the band with a black nylon band (about $5.00) which looks terrific.
A great watch at a great price.
First Amazon Disappointment July 21, 2008 0 out of 12 found this review helpful
My last watch from Amazon was the quartz Invicta dive watch, now on my wrist. It's a great watch for the price...Amazon gave me a good deal and timely delivery. But most jewelers these days are jaded, leaving battery replacement to their sales clerks, who give a scripted statement about their inability to get a good seal, damaging the crystal, etc. Living on the ocean, I need a very water resistant watch. After seeing this one and reading the revues, I noticed the specials link and clicked it. The watch was offered for fifty-one bucks, if I applied for the Chase/Amazon Visa card. That was thirty bucks down, so I filled out the Chase/Amazon Visa application, which asked questions not included in the stack of preapproved credit card applications stuffed into one of my drawers...mother's maiden name, employers phone number, etc. Well, after filling out all of the blanks, I was informed that my purchase had not been processed. So I telephoned the 888 number for Chase/Amazon Visa, and was told that they had not received my application. Well, I ordered the watch the next evening, on my old account, but was told that Amazon would not ship to my post office box, as it has in the past. So I gave them my street address and ordered this watch. Now I am left to wonder if the Chase Visa special was an identity theft popup scam, or if Amazon has suffered some change in management which treats its customers like victims, as so many businesses do these days. This is the only time that Amazon has failed to make good on a special offer. I've been entirely happy with Amazon in the past. Right now, I am not happy. I hope that the watch arrives and proves worthy of the hassle and the worry. I also hope that this purchase is not the beginning of bad news to come.
