great triathlon watch if you don't do triathlon February 2, 2008 this watch has been great to wear, easy to use, and very comfortable....until it filled up with water during my first swim with it on. I guess you get what you pay for. Other than the water resistance issue it has been excellant.
Okay by Me January 30, 2008 I'm satisfied with this watch. It's easy to read, has good functionality, is nice looking and feels like it's good quality. Some people have complained that the alarm isn't loud enough, but I haven't found this to be the case; it wakes me up with its distinctive chime, and what's nice is that the clock face flashes as the alarm rings, so you can find it in the dark. Also people have mentioned that the wristband isn't plastic, it's Velcro; and so it is. But I don't have a problem with this. The band fits perfectly with the eyelet with no issue, contrary to some reports. Someone did mention that when you change from time to chrono to timer to alarm, it takes a while for CHRONO or TIMER to disappear and actually let you get going with the stopwatch, etc. And that's true, but you can press any button and it will quickly snap right into the function. So again, no problem there. I don't know if the wristband can be replaced though; some have said it can't, but I do see the pin for changing it, it's just a question of taking the full guard off or not, and if you can find a watchband with an exact fit, including the little guard piece. I bet that you can, but I'll find out when that happens when it comes time. Overall, I'm pleased.
Good Design - Bad Quality January 24, 2008 Pros - Big watch face and many features
Cons - Stopped working after 3 months
I bought this watch to replace two other Timex watches. The other watches (54391) watchband broke both times. Due to their design, you need to ship it back to Timex to replace the watchband.
So I decided to get another Timex with a Velcro watchband instead of a resin watchband. As the other reviewer mentioned, if you get the watchband wet, it really holds the moisture. The problem with that, other than being uncomfortable, it leaves a wet spot on your pants when your wrist is resting on your lap. Walking around with the appearance that you peed yourself is also uncomfortable.
I emailed Timex about this problem and their resolution was to charge me $7.00 shipping and handling, plus the cost of shipping it to them, plus an additional charge if the issue is not covered under their one year warranty (i.e. battery).
After having purchased three defective Timex watches in under three years, I will never buy another Timex again nor recommend anyone else to do so.
Great watch! December 5, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Just bought a second one after battery went dead after 2 years. Hand many, many Timex and Casio watches over the years and this one is my favorite with just the right combination of features: waterproof, multiple alarms, countdown timers with multiple intervals (great for interval training like run really fast for 3 minutes, slow down for 1), and easy switch between timezones with the alarms switching with you.
And I really like the velcro band (even though I didn't think I would) - easy for small much more custom fit and it held up well with exercise - including a marathon. Sure, it's a tight fit through the whole, but that keeps it from slipping off as you loosen it.
Indigo lighting is nice, but doesn't work so well at twilight - much better when it's really dark.
Great Watch at a Great Price! November 30, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This watch rocks. I used it at my last marathon and it worked like a champ. It also has an interval timer for training purposes. Now I use it every day and with 5 alarms I can set it for lots of different reminders during the day. With a great price and fast delivery, this watch is a great deal!
