Customer Reviews:
Buyer Beware March 8, 2008 Crystal broke only after 3 days of wearing, looked up warrenty $9.00 for shipping and $25.00 for replacement crystal. Total $34.00, I got the watch for $79.00.
Nice Looking Watch, But Is Junk February 23, 2008 This is the worst watch I've ever owned! I had previously given it 5 stars, but wish I could change that to zero stars. I've had $5 watches that lasted years, but this one lasted exactly one month! I was lying in bed and heard something that sounded like glass cracking. I remembered the reviews here with other people having this happen, so I looked at my watch and sure enough there was a crack right down the middle. And while I was looking at it another crack happened perpendicular to the first crack! It's like these darned things are programmed to crack after a certain amount of time, it's truly bizarre! I will never buy another Skagen watch, which it too bad because they do look really nice. Amazon is being kind enough to replace it, but I can't imagine the replacement will be any better. Skagen needs to step up and recall these defective watches.
Best watch I've ever owned. December 26, 2007 I bought the first Skagen version of this watch, The Body was natural titanium color and the band was Titanium plated closely woven stainless which I believe is still the process. The new black version is the obvious replacement from this dynamic design studio. My battery wore out on the original after seven years and I let a mall kyosk place change it. They misaligned the case. Skagen gave me a $30 credit on the new black version and told me how to carefully remove and re-align the back and the original now works fine and I have a new watch for less than I paid for their first release a two for one perfect deal.
I own a stainless Rolex a Gold LaSalle Seiko, Omega and numerous other very well made wrist pieces. They look nice but do not perform as well as a basic Skagen!
The Skagen is the lightest, most comfortable and aggreably the best watch company I've ever dealt with. I don't even know it's on my wrist.
I got a new watch from my son yesterday. It's a Triumph Motorcycle logo watch in a fancy leather tool pouch for my Bonneville. THe Watch is about three inches in diameter and weighs about a pound and needs about four links removed from it. He must not have listened to his 60 + dad when I said Titanium was the way to go. Skagen is an outstanding design company at least in their minimal creations
Simply the best... December 20, 2007 I purchased this watch as a birthday gift for my very particular husband. It caught my eye because he liked the gunmetal color and a simple, masculine design. I was concerned about the chainmail type of wristband, but 7 years later, nary a hair has been caught. My husband said it is very comfortable, and doesn't build up moisture under it like other watch bands do, namely leather or plastic ones. Other metal bands pinched and pulled, this one has remained smooth, cool and comfortable.
The clasp is very secure, and thousands of uses later still clicks tightly onto the latch. It is a double clasp, so even if the outer one pops up, you still have a chance that the other one will keep the watch on your wrist.
The only issue we've ever had was a broken crystal, which was quickly replaced at no charge by Skagen.
I agree with others that it has a particularly loud tick, which I'm not sure is the worst thing. I can hear it when my husband takes it off at night, and I guess I find it a good background noise. I only really hear it when our bedroom fan is off, which is rarely.
Overall, excellent value, excellent quality, and excellent customer service, as well as a unique and handsome style made this watch an absolute winner. It was much more expensive when I purchased it, so this price on Amazon is excellent as well.
I hope it continues another 7 years...
First the good news December 19, 2007 I purchased 2 Skagen watches from Amazon, I think they have great styling, thin, very light weight and a good band. The problem is the crystal, my first one only lasted 2 and a half months. Cracked in half. NO warranty at all on the crystal. I have had dozens of watches from Timex to Rolex and never had this problem. The repair is $8.95 shipping plus $25,00 for the crystal. So how many stars? 5 for style, 1 for durability.
