I have owned two pairs of Mephisto shoes, the first was a pair of Marlon's, and I currently wear the Phoebus model. Mephisto shoes are obviously quite expensive (to buy), but I have found they are inexpensive to own. The shoes are exceptionally well made with very high quality materials - and this is apparent by how long they last. My first pair lasted 8 years, and then one additional year with a resole. The second pair I purchased are now on year five and going strong. In each case, I wear these shoes at least five days per week. Considering how long these shoes last, they are actually quite inexpensive to own. Theses styles work well for business casual. The shoes are very comfortable and exceptionally well made - I would say these shoes are essentially the best shoe that could be made short of a custom shoe. The downside to these shoes is they last so long you will have to live with the style awhile. Also, you will have to buy some good laces as the originals will only last a year or two. Overall, I highly recommend these shoes, and I will continue to buy them even at these prices. Mephisto does provide re-soleing, but in my experience this was not fully effective. My re-soles last only about one year before they started to separate - so I am not sure I will do that again. But these are excellent shoes and I can recommend them without reservation.
