Impressed! March 25, 2008 I bought the bug brown version (Jungle Moc Gore-Tex Leather, 9M) in mid-Jan 2008, and from the first minute I slipped them on at work (had the package delivered to the office), I was impressed at the snugness AND comfort. I still wear my Nike Air Max TL3 (loosely-tied size-9.0) when I hit the treadmill, so for regular daily use, these size-9 Jungle Moc were a perfect fit. Depending on the type of socks you wear (thin or thick), you can control how snug the fit is, without worrying about fiddling with shoelaces. But regardless of the socks, I can still actually run in these (up the office stairs, or down to the mailbox on my street). Not bad!
In fact, two weeks later, I grabbed an identical pair in black. So I can alternate depending on the situation (black for more business-casual black slacks, or the bug brown for non-black pants or jeans). As it approaches April 2008, no problems with either pair so far. Definitely worth the money!
Merrell Jungle Moc are great March 16, 2008 This is the second pair of these shoes. They are great and very comfortable to wear right out of the box. I have talked to a co-work and now is ordering the ladies style because she liked the way mine looked. I will only buy Merrell shoes. They make you feet feel so good.
One GREAT Shoe, Men! You Will LOVE These!!! August 6, 2007 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
First, I will start by telling you that I suffer terribly from a severely deteriorated lower spine, nerve problems down my right leg, and terrible foot and ankle problems. I wear othotics all day, every day, and have two kinds, that swap out depending on what kind of shoe I am wearing at the time. I also use a cane 100% of the time. OK, enough of this.
Merrell shoes are simply great things. I have never purchased a pair that I either did not like, were not comfortable, or that I sort of "stopped wearing after a while". This should tell you, then, that with all my "problems" mentioned above, these shoes are well designed "internally" or "fit-wise" to the foot and arch. (Of course, my othotics help, too, but I need to tell you that many other shoes from other manufacturers DO NOT make my feet, ankles, or legs and back feel better with the othotics, so this review is not "bunk"...there IS something about the construction of these great shoes.
I have 7 different pair of Merrell shoes, and of them, my Jungle Mocs are my favorite. They slip on easily, "cradle" my foot so comfortably it's like wearing slippers, and, as with all Merrell shoes, support very well. They have the really great rubber soles that, for someone like me, grip quickly and solidly, preventing slipping in wet conditions, or on wet tile floors, and ALSO the "wrap around" aspect of them gives one greater stability should your foot not land perfectly flat when stepping, as mine often do not. I do not recall EVER slipping with a pair of these shoes on.
Personally, I like these, the leather ones. I do, however, also have 2 pair of the suede or nubuck style. But, I think these are dressier. I have the Bug Brown ones, and they are a great rich brown color that "go" with everything, are soft and supple, and just sort of say "put me on" when you look at them. And, once you do put them on, you're very glad that you did! Very comfortable, very durable and long wearing, look great, and are stablizing on your feet.
Try a pair, guys, I bet you love them, and that you "thank me" for this report on these great shoes that got you to try them! ~operabruin
Gore-Tex versus non-Gore-Tex February 20, 2007 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have both Gore-Tex and non-Gore-Tex versions of this shoe. If you're trying to decide between the two, the Gore-Tex is resilient enough that your foot feels dry when you submerge most of the shoe in a puddle. On the non-Gore-tex version, your foot immediately feels wet.
The Gore-Tex version doesn't work miracles -- if you submerge the whole shoe in the puddle then your foot still is wet. But it helps avoid the "I've just stepped in a very deep puddle" drama.
