Unfortunately, Bostonian too has cut back on quality. The previous pair I had owned kept me happy for several years and a couple soles. They were good Italian leather and held up very well to wear. This most recent pair are, of course, Chinese leather and they are of a noticeably lower quality for the same money. If you're willing to pay their price I recommend paying the extra $30.00 for Johnson and Murphy or $15.00 for the Florshiem.

Men's shoes are all the same. So I'm always torn between the cheap and the more expensive. I've given up on cheap. There's simply no value in a shoe that splits seams after 2 weeks.
On the other hand, I've found that Bostonians hold-up and look good for a long, long time. They're not the cheapest, but they're worth the extra nickel.

I was looking for a good quality pair of shoes with leather soles. Leather sole shoes are getting harder and harder to find in stores. The Bostonian line of shoes at Amazon.com filled the bill for me. They are excellent quality at an affordable price.

I have a wide, relatively short foot with a high arch and have lots of problems finding high quality dress shoes that fit. Bostonians are the only quality shoes that fit me, so I have been loyal for the last decade. I can't find them in my area, so Amazon is the only channel I use to get them.
