This Blanket Rocks December 4, 2008 It is amazing. Not like the electric blankets I grew up with, this keeps you cozy and warm, but not too hot. The best part is it does not get the bed too warm on the outside so our Dog still can sleep on the bed! We have had this blanket for over a month, and just had to turn the heat on this week. It paid for itself all ready!!
Luxurious and warm November 11, 2008 I've had several electric blankets through the years and this one is BY FAR, the softest, coziest, and most comfortable warming blanket I've ever had.
I live in Maine and the winters can be very cold. I like to keep my bedroom cold for sleeping, but that didn't mean I wanted my bed to be cold! This blanket, as others have stated, won't make the bed toasty before I get in, but it does take the edge off, bringing the sheets to a tolerable temperature.
And as soon as I slid in, the true value of this blanket became evident. Immediately, I felt the warming effects all over, from head to toe and within seconds, I was comfortable and cozy.
One of my biggest complaints with warming blankets in the past has always been the feel of the wires. Blankets have been stiff and bulky with thick wires that irritated my body as I shifted through the night. Not so with this blanket. This one is soft, pliable, and just feels so luxurious to the touch. If you try, you can find and feel the wires, but in general they are practically unnoticable. They are very thin, narrowly spaced, and ensconced in plush microfleece.
This blanket is so soft and supple that I will probably leave it on the bed year round. Typically, I have always yanked the electric blanket off the bed as soon as the season was over, glad to be rid of it. This one, though, is attractive, soft, lightweight, and plush. I can see using it as a comfy summer blanket as well.
Overall, I am thrilled with this blanket and love the high-end feel of the materials. With this on top of my sleep number bed, I am in heaven night after night. It almost makes me look forward to winter.
Nov. 2008 Perfect Fit,Warming Blanket review. Just purchased. November 11, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Just purchased a Queen size Perfect Fit,electric warming blanket. Did a lot of research before buying this and was informed about it by the Hammacher catalog. Have had regular electric blankets before and this was suppose to be the best one out there. I was not sure about warming verses regular blanket so I will explain that below and the pricing. First of all if you want to buy it this week 11/10>...Macy's has the best deal in their flyer at 50% off. I almost bought this from Hammacher but found better deals online for half the price. Purchased it from Costco online (no membership needed) at half the price; also, Amazon has good price. The blanket does heat up but no hot spots. I turned it to 8 to preheat the bed...and believe me...you cannot sleep under it...to hot and have to put it to about 4 for the night. Heats up right away (10 -15 min max)and my partner likes the 4 level to take the chill out of the bed. No bulky wires so that is nice. The mis-information in ads that I read and the brochure are as follows; A)automatic pre-heat feature...NOT...where is that...no, you have to turn the dial up and then of course it goes to that heat setting..not sure really what they are talking about since you have to turn the dial manually. B). machine washable...no big deal as they state...same as other electric blankets...a real pain to do since you should only wash for 5 min on super gentle and with a blanket this large most of the time you will have to go to a laundry mat and their machines don't have the gentlest cycle you need without wringing tight. Recommends hand washing in a bath tub...what a pain. Whoe's going to do that...not me. So, unless you have a very large personal washing machine hard to wash. (note same as other electric blankets). Last...you need to have one electric outlet with two plugs available for this size (and the king) near the bed above the headrest area....or two outlets with one free in each at the head of the bed. Comes with two plugs, one for each side of the blanky. The last queen size electric blanket I had with two controls only had one plug. The plugs and adapters are bulky and ugly in white so if you have a platform bed it is hard to hide them. In the end...really not sure if it was worth the money since there are other nice electrics out there for $60 online onsale. Just glad I did not pay $199.00 for this and did a lot of shopping around. Bed gets nice and toasty underneath and too hot with 2 people in the bed at a setting of 6 or highter; end up turning down both settings to 3 and sometimes off...don't need another heavy comforter on top end up kicking them off. Although, not having any hot spots and warm all over is nice. Hope this helps.
Stopped working October 25, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Got this in January, and used it last winter - was wonderful. Brought it back out to use this fall/winter, and the blanket is not working anymore....looks like you can only use this for 1 season then it stops working.
Best blanket ever October 23, 2008 I always loved our down comforters, but like the room cool to sleep and tended to get too chilly to sleep well under the comforter. Our daughter talked me into trying an electric blanket--something I had never wanted. I thought they were unappealing in every way; cheap blankets and stiff wires. After a bit of research I found the Soft Heat warming blanket and decided to try it. It is perfect. Ten different dual control settings to get it just right for each my husband and myself. It doesn't get "hot" like a heating pad--just luxuriously warm and cocoon-like. Alas, our new puppy chewed a hole through the one I bought last winter so I'm buying another. That's the best kind of recommendation.
