 Good - but could be better... August 29, 2008
Functions as advertised but both a little heavy and tight on the wrist - should come either with extra links or with coupon for adjustments...

The watch face is a little smaller than I thought it would be. I prefer watch faces at least 44mm in diameter. It is also thinner that I like but it will fit nicely under dress shirts. I own about 15 watches with five or so of them being Eco-Drives. This is the smallest by far.
Be aware that the design of the band means that the first three links on either side of the case do not bend very much. This tends to hold the band away from your wrist rather that following the curve. The band and face are a classic design and nothing spectacular. I'll wear it over the next few days to see if I like a "smaller" watch.

Have owned the watch for a week now (08/24/08), its keeping the time accurately till now. Had to remove a few links at a jewelers initially, when I received it the time was off by one hour and the date was set correctly. Setting the correct time was easy, it has a great interactive DVD included.
Pros:
Great looking dial and band
Perpetual calendar - no need to set date
Eco-drive - never have to replace a battery
Cons:
Pulls hair on the hand, might get used to this.
When moving between alarm and time functionality, the hour hands move automatically to indicate the Alarm time, they move slowly.
Bit heavy, titanium is much lighter though more expensive, but did not find a good looking watch in Citizen which was made of titanium.
Despite the cons I am very satisfied with the purchase and give it 5 stars.

Well,I received my Citizen Eco-Drive Men's Perpetual Calender Watch today. I live out in the sticks, so it made me wait by the door so I would not miss the UPS truck. It finally arrived 'round about 2:30 PM; I could have slept longer this morning. The Driver was nice; he did not drop the package and I did not have to sign for it either.
Now, let's get down to business - my title for this review. Let me say this first; it took a few minutes of fiddling around with the crown and after finding the TME dial and choosing one of the two positions to set the crown, I did get the watch to settle down and tell time. I am very proud of that; I can tell you! I wear binocs see, and the print in the manuals are so darn small, I wanted a microsope to read them. However, out in broad daylight and with my binocs and some squinting done, I mangaged to get at least a part of the text digested. I am not a rocket scientist, but I manage.
I am not finished yet, of course. There are still many functions I have to study on and hopefully master. I do have a lighted magnifying glass for later though, but it needs batteries. I have the patients of a Saint and will write more on my findings later on.
Now, back to the title of my review, which I must admit took a few moments before I decided not to call it "Bracelet". My main complaint about this beautiful watch - and whch complaint was never mentioned in any of the other complimenty reviews, above and below mine - is that one needs to have the wrist size of Arnold Schawzanegger and since, as I have already mentioned, live in the sticks, I need to find a Jewelry store right quick to remove some links. Not that there is a chance I will lose the watch off my wrist, but it does jangle around some; i mean I can insert two fingers in sideways and still have room for another to squeeze in if I try hard enough.
This is the first part of my review -- and will add more to it as time goes along and or if I have the patients to figure the rest of it out.
By the way - most reviewers claimed that the watch face is not blue (as pictured here) but black. Out in the sunlight, squinting and all to read that manual, my imagination got the better of me, and be damned if the crystal face didn't wink blue at me for a little while. Oh, and yeah -- I give the Citizen Eco-Drive Men's Perpetual Calender Watch, #BL517-571 five stars - and except for the, "Wears like a Bangle" part, would have given six. Buy one and enjoy!

A continuation:
It is the 13 of August. I own the watch three days and it is working perfectly; keeps time and the date changes on schedule every time the clock strikes twelve; absolutely no problems at all. I have not been into any of the other functions (and may not use them) since I bought this watch primarily to keep time and have the date each month change automatically (it is a lazy man's watch after all. Is it not?)
Every night before I go to bed, I place it not to far away from a window so that at 5:00 AM, the new day's light shines directly upon it's crystal and begins a new charge. I am very happy with this product; no two ways about it!

Better than expected June 21, 2008
I read many reviews, for many watches, in the same price range and slightly above.
Many people said the blue color was a little misleading, its definitely a little darker indoors, but still blue, now purple as some were claiming. That was probably my biggest concern.
Second concern was size. I'm not a big fan of the overly large size of some of today's watches. The watch was perfect. It was thinner than I had expected, but not too thin or cheap in appearance.
My last 'nice' watch was a Seiko Kenetic. Loved the watch, the look, the concept, but aftera few years it started to drop its charge. I hope this watch does not suffer from the same type of issue.
It is a very well styled watch, conservative, has the functions that I wanted, even the alarm.
I would highly reccommend this watch for anyone with second thoughts or hesitations.
