Mixed feelings but overall I like it. July 21, 2008 I bought my Skagen 233XLSGS a year and a half ago. I have mixed feelings.
I love the thin profile of the watch. I dislike heavy, bulky watches and this one is a dream. It is so light you barely realize it is on your wrist. Very thin and generally comfortable to wear except in hot weather. In hot weather the band holds moisture next to the skin which I find a little bothersome. The two-tone face is very attractive and it is easy to read the time. I feel the price of the watch offers real value. You can pay nearly as much for a plastic cased Timex or Casio watch... a few dollars more gives you a really nicely designed Skagen. It's a lot of "bang for the buck".
Pros: Super thin and comfortable to wear. Elicits many compliments for its looks. Accurate time. Great price that offers excellent value.
Cons: The mesh band is not comfortable in hot weather and gets rather sweaty next to skin. The mesh band can easily be damaged if you accidentally hit something with your arm. In my case one of the fine wires broke and now snags on clothing. The "brushed stainless steel" casing scuffs very easily as can be seen my the image I uploaded. The clasp on the band can lose it's tension and come open. It is possible to gently press the sides together to "bend" it slightly which fixes the problem for quite a while. When it loosens again, repeat the gentle pressure on the sides. Minor nusiance but not a deal breaker. The calendar is absurdly small and I can't read it without holding the watch about an inch from my eye. Yeah I wear glasses and my close vision isn't the best but it's too darn small to be worthwhile.
I do like the watch in spite of the mesh band issue. In fact I just ordered another one just like this one since it would have cost nearly as much to replace the mesh band as to just buy a new watch. But if the new one doesn't hold up any better, it won't be replaced again.
For now, I'm comfortable giving this a 4 rating. Your mileage may vary.
Beautiful, comfortable, accurate - perfect! March 18, 2008 I don't often review products, but this watch has far exceeded my expectations and thought I should share my findings. To elaborate on my title...it is Beautiful - a really sharp watch - several people have given me totally unsolicited compliments just from seeing it on my wrist Comfortable - very slim, light weight, the stainless steel strap has no sharp edges or pinch points to pull hairs Accurate - I set the time to the exact second according to the official U.S. time website and checked it one week later - it was still perfect
I'm very satisfied and highly recommend this watch - it's a stunner!
Skagen Watch January 12, 2008 I saw this watch at Macy's during the summer of 2007 on sale for about $100. Amazon had the same watch in December 2007 for half the original price. I ordered it and am pleased to say that it is a great watch, extremely light weight and super thin. I wouldn't hesitate to buy additional Skagen watches through Amazon.

Skagen men's slimline mesh watch - great value for a slim light weight watch. Not that heavy bulk. Date could be larger. Dial easy to read. Skagen is a good brand and we love the Danish connection since my husband's family comes from Denmark!
Best watch November 6, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is without a doubt the best watch I have ever owned. I love the fact that it is so thin, lightweight and comfortable to wear. There had been many complaints about the clasp with the safety hinge but from day one I had found it to be quite easy to put on and the watch feels secure on my wrist. The date window is extremely small but that wasn't why I bought the watch.
