 Lovely, but not a quality tanzanite March 26, 2007

This is a lovely ring, in a lovely setting. The pear shape is very attractive. The diamonds set it off with a nice sparkle. I ordered it in yellow gold. For style it rates a 4 star. The pictured stone looks like a tanzanite (I have owned a good quality tanzanite ring). The ring I got looked like a rose quartz or a pale amethyst. For that reason and for the prompt refund I got when I returned it, I give it a 3 star. Your customers should know this is a nice ring, very reasonably priced, but no investment as a Tanzanite. Tanzanites are being mined into extinction. What is 'reasonably priced' now is in the less deep strata where they may still exist. Most of the quality Tanzanites are in older jewelry or in expensive jewelry collections. This looks very like an amethyst. I wouldn't be surprised if it were.

I bought one of these for my sweetheart and she loved it. Tanzanite is just a beautiful stone. I heard from Dawn, who's a real whiz at these things that the mines are running out and tanzanite can only go up in value
